Behind the Scenes Prepping for Lu's Autumn Affair

Fall means all hands on deck here at Lu's. We are busy preparing the store, stocking inventory, steaming clothes, taking photos, marketing, hand-beading jewelry and more!

All tasks and jobs are important as we prepare for one of our biggest events of the year...Lu's Autumn Affair which is a multi-part event featuring a Facebook Live on Tuesday night, a two-day shopping event in Leavenworth and a big Anniversary Event in Springfield, Mo shortly after! It takes a village to make this all happen, so let's go behind of the scenes of our staff this week and see what they are getting into as we prep for our month ahead.

Processing Inventory takes Muscles and Magic!

Phoebe has both. Lu and her team shop markets around the country to bring in the best fashions for  our customers. Once they ship to our store we have to unpack, tag, steam and inventory each item. Prior to our Autumn Affair we'll receive 50+ boxes packed full with the best fashion finds and trends. Phoebe then has her magic systems in place to get the items inventoried, steamed and split between our Leavenworth boutique, Springfield boutique and online store. Once her magic system is complete - she steams each item to make sure they are photo and wear-ready. Nobody likes creases or seems so we steam every item to make sure they're ready for you.

We sometimes receive 20+ boxes in one day - so she calls in reinforcements. This week that meant Tracy, Lu's husband, was brought in to tag and steam items while Phoebe worked her magic. 

Designing the Handmade Jewelry Designs 

While Phoebe and Tracy tackled the boutique clothing coming in - Lu has been busy designing new jewelry pieces for the Autumn Affair. She has been loving working with pearls, metals and turquoise in her new designs. She also stays busy choosing the looks for the Autumn Affair Style Show on Facebook Live, decorates the store with her team, and leads this operation with style. 

Merchandising and Customer Service Crew 

Once we get closer to the Autumn Affair, Francy and JoAnn will be busy re-merchandising the store with all the new Fall looks. They get the fun job of putting the outfits and jewelry together on all the mannequins and readying the Leavenworth boutique for all its shoppers. In the meantime, they are busy on the floor helping our customers by being a welcoming and helpful hand to all who come in! Whether you're looking for a new pair of jeans, blouse, bracelet or full outfit - they are there to help you find the perfect pieces! 

Online Marketing and Website Work

We have two Jennifers who are always working hard behind-the-scenes for website, personal shopping and marketing!

Jennifer, we lovingly call JDB to avoid the Jennifer confusion, is busy getting pictures taken of the new jewels, uploading them to the website and doing whatever needs to be done around the store. "She's the Jill of all trades."

Our other Jennifer is the marketing and media point person. Managing all communication about the upcoming event, designing fliers and socials, and helping Lu pick out the fashions for the Lives as well as taking all the photos and updating the website with new descriptions. 

The Hardest Worker of them All

But the hardest worker of us all - is sweet June - Jenifer's precious baby girl. She is the hardest working Lu girl of us all and we can tell because she ends up needing multiple naps a day - it's hard work being this cute!
