Eighteen years ago, I stood in an empty brick building in historic downtown Leavenworth, Kansas. The walls were bare....I could hardly believe this space would soon become my first Artistic Works by Lu boutique — a dream that had begun years earlier at my kitchen table.

When I first started designing jewelry in 2002, I had just a few plastic containers filled with beads, a kitchen table covered in creativity, and a heart full of faith. I was a busy Air Force wife and mom of three, designing late into the night and hosting home jewelry parties where laughter, friendship, filled the room. I never imagined that small beginning would become the foundation for something that would bless so many women — including me.

In 2007, after years of creating and dreaming, that faith became reality. Tracy and I opened the doors to my first studio-boutique right here in Leavenworth. I still remember that incredible November day — the line of women waiting outside, the energy buzzing through the air, and the joy of seeing this dream finally come to life. My family and friends  were there, and mostly God’s presence was felt everywhere.

Since then, Artistic Works by Lu has grown in ways that only He could have planned. What started as one little shop has blossomed into two boutique studios — one in Leavenworth and one in Springfield, Missouri, managed by my sister Carla — and a growing online store that allows women all over the country to shop and share in this story.

Over these 23 years of designing, I’ve learned that jewelry is never just jewelry. It’s connection, confidence, and creativity all woven together. I’ve watched women light up when they find the perfect piece that makes them feel beautiful, seen, and uniquely themselves. It’s a reminder that beauty isn’t about perfection — it’s about heart, joy, and embracing your own story.

None of this would be possible without the incredible community that surrounds me — my family, my Lu girls, my team, and every woman who has supported, shopped, and shared this journey. You are the reason I do what I do.

As I sit in my studio surrounded by walls of beads and memories, I can’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come. What started as a little spark has grown into something so much bigger than I ever imagined — a business built on faith, family, and friendship.

“I have filled him with the Spirit of God… to design artistic works.”
– Exodus 31:3–4

From my kitchen table to two beautiful boutiques — and now an online store reaching women everywhere — this journey has been one of faith, family, and so much gratitude. Thank you for 18 (and more!) amazing years of love, creativity, and connection. 💕

I can’t wait to see what God has planned for the next chapter — and I hope you’ll continue to be a part of it.

Come celebrate with us in Leavenworth,Ks; in Springfield, Mo, or online
